Why is a Portfolio important?
All professional models invest in a portfolio and if you are seriously considering earning money from modelling in either a part-time or full-time capacity then a portfolio is essential.
A portfolio is your C.V. for prospective clients to view and if they like what they see a booking or casting may follow. Although it does not guarantee extra work, a top class portfolio gives you the best possible chance of additional assignments. It is an important tool of your trade as without one is like owning a beautiful oil painting that's kept in the attic where nobody can appreciate it.
Your portfolio is a living document that needs to be kept up to date as your appearance and style naturally change over time and the client needs to see you as you are now and not how you were a couple of years ago. Normally the client is quite happy to let you have a few photos from the shoot for your portfolio so this is a good (and cheap) way to keep it current.
What photos should your Portfolio include?
For glamour models your portfolio should contain at least 6 photos:- a portrait (i.e. face), 4 full length (left and right profile, front and back shots) plus a three-quarter length photo. These should be nude shots (a G-string can be worn) with the breasts not supported by hands or ribbons, etc. The idea is to show the potential client quality photographs of your basic features rather than the artistry and creativity of the photographer who took them.

For fashion models your portfolio should contain clothed photos of portraits, side , full and three-quarter shots plus a sitting pose. These photos are designed to show how well you wear clothes and again not the artistry and creativity of the photographer.

REMEMBER, THE RIGHT PICTURES WILL GET YOU WORK AND WORK MEANS MONEY............
Portfolio Services
A portfolio can be obtained by going down the Time For Prints (TFP) route but results can be varied to say the least. A better way is to hire a professional photographer who knows what they are doing. Below you will find a list of photographers who offer a portfolio service at very competitive prices. By clicking on their link below You can see some examples of their work and decide if their style would be compatible with the image you wish to portray. It should be pointed out that if you will be doing topless work then the portfolio should contain examples in this category.
